Kira Bella

<Guest speaker>
Kira Bella is a global citizen and entrepreneur who turned a deep love for culture, sustainability, and adventure into a rural revitalization business in Kitahiroshima, Japan. Born in Tanzania, raised in Australia, and later moving alone to the U.S. at 15, Kira majored in Environmental Studies and Geography, then traveled to 41 countries across six continents, conducting field research and conservation initiatives in the Amazon rainforest along the way. Her journey unexpectedly led her to Japan’s countryside, where she joined a 3,500-year-old Kagura troupe and launched Kirameki, a business blending cultural preservation with sustainable tourism and community support initiatives. Now pursuing a master’s at Johns Hopkins in sustainable energy, she has become one of Kitahiroshima’s tourism ambassadors, growing her following by 50,000 followers in a few weeks after launching her business. Kira’s story shows how international entrepreneurs can build meaningful lives and create a lasting impact in Japan’s countryside communities, whilst preserving traditions and positively supporting rural towns.
